ANNIE GALE

Co Owner and Coach

I have always had a keen interest in fitness and health, as a child and teen basketball was my sport of choice and I was a long standing member of various Globo gyms and worked with various personal trainers over the years.

I discovered CrossFit five years ago when I walked into my first session knowing nothing of the sport and have never looked back, to me I had found what the true definition of health and fitness is. Constantly varied, measurable, it is broad general and inclusive therefore the community and comradery of like minded people that is developed is a beautiful thing. You just don’t get this anywhere else. It doesn’t matter your age, gender or size CrossFit is for everyone.

As you can tell CrossFit changed my life for the good and I knew I wanted to share that with others. I started my coaching journey in 2014, I went on to complete my Cert III & IV in Fitness to have a greater understanding of the human body and how it works.

I am constantly expanding my knowledge through courses, training and learning from others in the industry, I’m a 38 year old mother of two and I finally worked out what I wanted to do when I grew up, Its never too late!

CRAIG WOOLHAM

CO OWNER AND COACH

Prior to CrossFit I had around 25 years of playing football and then 5 years in triathlons, working from sprint distances up to ironman, both challenged me in different ways but I had never done a sport like this. In 2011 I discovered CrossFit and was instantly hooked! My first exposure to this sport was actually the level 1 coaches course, I just knew I’d love it and jumped all in to learn how to coach it. I started on pretty much all the scaled weight/movements and learnt from the basics up, it was a totally new style of training for me so I had to take my time. Even though I had a big engine from my previous sports I lacked decent strength, over time I built this up and then was able to perform the WODs as prescribed (‘RX’). Since 2011 I’ve continued to build more experience by obtaining qualifications in weightlifting, kettlebells, crossfit coaching level 2 and I also spent 3 years at the canberra institute of technology gaining my advanced diploma of health sciences in soft tissue therapy. I love the variety of this sport and how it caters to everyone, you really don’t need to be fit to do crossfit, you just need to commit to it!

COACH

I started my fitness journey in 2006 after completing a transformation competition. The competition motivated me to improve personally and I wanted to officially start helping others through their journey. This inspired me to start personal training after successfully completing Certificate III and IV. I discovered CrossFit in 2008 and immediately fell in love with the CrossFit approach and the continuing challenges and improvements that it brought to my life. I started training, competing and coaching after completing my CrossFit Level 1 certificate in 2009. I competed in the first CrossFit regionals in Australia in 2009 and continued to compete at regionals until 2011. I have been training CrossFit clients since 2009 and have enjoyed training a variety of people, from those looking to improve their quality of life through to members seeking competition success. I was very privileged to have been a part of a coaching team for regional athletes for 5 consecutive years (2011-2015).

I thrive on working with and seeing people achieve their best through CrossFit. I chose CrossFit ThreeFlow as a place for myself to train as a member and to be a part of the training team as it matches my beliefs in what CrossFit is all about packaged with the awesome CrossFit ThreeFlow community.

COACH

I spent 12 years in the Australian Army. During my career, I saw a variety of training methodologies come and go, but when I found CrossFit I knew that I was onto a training philosophy that was here to stay.

I started my CrossFit journey in 2010 whilst on deployment to Afghanistan. I experienced first hand the physical demands required in one of the harshest places on Earth. It made me realise that my training regime was not preparing me for the unknown or unexpected.  After researching how I could best train for life, I came across CrossFit. I started slowly, doing the occasional body weight WOD for cardio, in between bench press and bicep curls.  The more CrossFit training I did the more results I saw and better prepared I felt.

I joined my first CrossFit box in Brisbane in 2013 and was instantly hooked. I loved the community; it was a source of constant drive and motivation.  I loved the consistent development and achievements.  I wanted to inspire and motivate others on their own journey. I have been coaching for almost two years and love helping people achieve what they once would have considered impossible. Seeing my athletes’ progress is my motivation.

ASSISTANT COACH

For most of my life I’ve been a reasonably active person. Throughout my teenage years and early twenties I was heavily involved in coaching and playing rugby. I also enjoyed running, rowing, cycling and a range of other sports. However, like so many people, I fell into a rut and neglected my health.

In an attempt to regain some lost fitness, I tried various gyms and fitness programs. Until in 2014, I stumbled upon this thing called CrossFit. I figured I didn’t have much to lose, so I gave it a crack. This was possibly the best decision I’ve made in my life.

One of the aspects I love most about CrossFit is how it gives you confidence and enables you to do things you never thought you could do. But the thing I love most is seeing friends do the same and sharing this experience as a community.

CrossFit Three Flow is my home away from home and for me becoming a coach is about giving people who share my ‘Third Place’ the confidence and tools to achieve what they perceive as impossible.

ASSISTANT COACH

During my adolescent years, I was heavily involved in sport, including rugby, soccer and basketball. Since retiring from contact sport, I used the gym as my main source of fitness and floated between various gyms across Australia. Once I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2013, I began to encounter more and more patients who were attending CrossFit boxes and they all echoed the same positivity and repeatedly described the health benefits of this style of training. These were not just limited to physical but also mental.

It wasn’t until I met Craig that I was convinced to give CrossFit a try. Initially I was nervous, given that some of the components of CrossFit included movements that I had never attempted before. However, with great coaching, I have been able to progress my Olympic lifting and gymnastics skills, and the friendly environment that CrossFit boxes promote, further aids in this process.

I admit that I fell in love with CrossFit within a matter of months and wanted to help others by using my knowledge as a physiotherapist, and applying this in a gym setting. The sport is scaleable for everyone  and it doesn’t matter how fit you are, everything can be tailored for you.
